  • California State University-Fullerton

Taichiroh “Ty” Kanauchi is a versatile violinist and violist with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music from California State University, Fullerton. She has been teaching violin and viola for over ten years throughout Orange County, offering private lessons as well as group instruction in various middle and high schools. Currently, she serves as a viola coach for the New Hope Orange County Orchestra and the Buddha’s Light Youth Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to her teaching, Ty is an active performer in orchestras, chamber groups, and folk ensembles. She has appeared with the Fresno Philharmonic, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, and Dream Orchestra of Los Angeles, as well as semi-professional ensembles such as the American Youth Symphony, YMF Debut Orchestra, California Young Artists Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Los Angeles. Her performance career has taken her to prestigious venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, La Madeleine and Chantilly in Paris, and stages across Germany, Luxembourg, and Taiwan.

Beyond strings, Ty has explored a wide range of musical disciplines, including euphonium, jazz trombone, and voice. Drawing from this diverse background, she brings creativity and depth to her teaching—blending historical knowledge of string playing with insights from other musical traditions. Her goal is to inspire every student to find their unique voice and share their story through music.
