Peter Pfiefer began playing drums at the age of nine and received his first drum kit a year later. Discovering early that music was his true calling, he immersed himself in orchestra, marching band, and jazz band throughout middle and high school. He later studied Music Performance at California State University, Long Beach, where he deepened his understanding of ensemble playing, composition, and music theory.

Over the years, Peter has built a distinguished career as both a session musician and live performer, contributing his talent to numerous albums and touring globally with acclaimed artists—including the most recent female inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (Class of 2023).

A full-time professional since his teens, Peter is respected in the music industry for his versatility, musical sensitivity, and dynamic presence behind the drum kit. He continues to bring 40 years of teaching experience to the next generation of musicians through his teaching at Music Around, where he offers private drum instruction on Saturdays in Lake Forest.
